U.S. Dollar Mostly Up

(AP) - The U.S. dollar rose against most other major currencies in early European trading Tuesday. Gold fell.
The euro was quoted at $1.4023, down from $1.4047 on Monday.
Other dollar rates compared with late Monday:

_1.1886 Swiss francs, up from 1.1861
_0.9893 Canadian dollars, up from 0.9870
The British pound was quoted at $2.0297, down from $2.0350.
Gold traded in London at $728.80 per troy ounce, down from $733.90 late Monday.
In Zurich, gold traded at $726.45 bid per troy ounce, down from $731.60 late Monday.
Gold fell $6.50 in Hong Kong to close at $730.15.
Silver opened in London at $13.15, down from $13.27.
