US dollar higher in Europe

(AP) - The U.S. dollar was higher against other major currencies in European trading Wednesday morning. Gold opened lower.
The euro traded at $1.5417, down from $1.5480 late Tuesday in New York.
Other dollar rates:
_105.32 Japanese yen, up from 105.26
_1.0583 Swiss francs, up from 1.0529
_1.0036 Canadian dollars, up from 1.0033
The British pound was quoted at $1.9378, down from $1.9459.
Gold opened in London at $867.30 down from $867.75 late Tuesday.
Gold prices in Zurich were not available.
Silver opened in London at $16.69, down from $17.14.
