(AP) - A line of storms stretched from the Great Lakes to the Mississippi Valley early Wednesday, while both coasts warmed up beneath clear skies.
A large portion of the Southern Plains eastward into the Lower Mississippi Valley was forecast to see severe thunderstorms, large hail and possibly a few tornadoes.
Dry and cool weather was prevalent across the northern and central Plains. A line of rain showers pushed across the Upper Midwest and into the Great Lakes.
High pressure was predicted to keep skies in the East warm and sunny. Another such system was building over California and the Southwest, resulting in sunny and hot weather there.
A spring storm continued to churn across the central and southern Rockies, along with portions of the Desert Southwest. Light rain and mountain snow was forecast over the Pacific Northwest.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Tuesday ranged from a low of 15 degrees at Stanley, Idaho, to a high of 103 degrees at Laredo, Texas.
